KAB provides resources and education to inspire individuals &
the Austin community toward greater environmental stewardship

THE INTERNSHIP... Three teens who participated in the Green Teens program throughout the 2007-2008 year at local recreation centers were selected for a paid summer internship. During the summer teens that were once students became leaders as they co-led activities for KAB's Green Stewards Camp. As camp leaders they discovered teaching can be a daunting yet rewarding task.

CAMP LEADERS...The teens jumped into their first week of work to lead activities at KAB’s Camp Green Stewards Camp were they began cultivating their leadership skills.

TEENS TAKE TO TEACHING... In addition to teaching at camp interns led activities for over 40 youth and adults on vermi-composting, litter, and watersheds at the KAB Travis Parks Cleanup.

FIELD-WORK. Teaching complimented with field-work. Green Teen interns helped maintain the Green Classroom where they planted mulched, weeded, and turned compost on a weekly basis. Interns also volunteered at Garden Workdays to help spruce up school gardens.
