Frustrated with the amount of recyclables that get thrown away at events?  We can make your next event environmentally friendly with easy-to-use recycling containers. Keep Austin Beautiful (KAB), in partnership with the City of Austin Austin Resource Recovery (ARR) - formerly Solid Waste Services, provides free recycling containers for use at fundraisers, parties, concerts, races, and other events. 

 

KAB’s event recycling program launched at the end of 2005.  Since then the number of events borrowing recycling bins has increased from 15 to over 100 per year!  Response to the program was so positive that the demand for recycling containers exceeded KAB’s resources which resulted in a partnership with the City of Austin ARR to make the program sustainable and able to reduce waste at many community events. Since the program’s inception, more than 15 TONS of recyclables have been diverted from landfills. The program now has an inventory of 120 ClearStream Recycling containers to share with the community. 

 

KAB serves as the first point of contact for event organizers to connect them with resources, answer questions about recycling set-up, provide educational information, and assist with volunteer recruitment through a weekly volunteer opportunity email and online calendar.

 

The City of Austin ARR manages the event recycling containers at the The City of Austin Resource Recovery Center (old landfill) at 10108 FM-812, Austin, TX 78719, and facilitates the check out and return of the containers, and coordinates event recycling for all city-sponsored and co-sponsored events.

 

Special Note:  The free recycling bin lending program is limited to events in Travis County and bins may not be checked out by recycling and waste hauling companies.

2. Read our Event Recycling Guidelines & Agreement

 

3. Fill out the Event Recycling Container Request Form. Recycling requests must be made at least 2 weeks before the event date.  SWS will confirm your reservation and pick-up time, and send you directions to collect your containers

 

4. Check out the containers at the pre-arranged time. Have a wonderful event!

 

5. After your event, wipe down the containers, store them in a safe location, and bring them back to the The City of Austin Resource Recovery Center (old landfill) at 10108 FM-812, Austin, TX 78719 at your pre-arranged time so they can be used at the next great local event.You will be asked to complete a short event report.
