850 Youth Participated in the 2008 Design-a-Bag Art Contest to promote the use of REUSABLE Bags.

The 2008 Winners of the Design-a-Bag Art Contest are:

Kinder to 3rd Grade

  • First Place: Grace Findeison from Laurel Elementary School Brownies
  • Second Place: Claudia Gilmore from Deep Wood Elementary School
  • Third Place: Miranda Bryarly from Laurel Elementary School Brownie

 

4th to 6th Grade

  • First Place: Jill Jackson from Spicewood Springs Elementary School
  • Second Place: Bailey Swenson from Austin Discovery School
  • Third Place: Maria Ocanas from Spicewood Springs Elementary School

 

7th - 12th  Grade

  • First Place: Fernando Rosales from Lanier High School
  • Second Place: Chris Atasie from Lanier High School
  • Third Place: Alsonso Escobar from Reagan High School

Participating Youth Decorated Canvas Bags with an environmental, conservation, or reuse theme. The submitted bags were creative, fun, and did an exceptional job capturing the theme!

Winning Bags were exhibited at KAB's Clean Sweep on April 9th.

 

Design-a-Bag Art Contest

  • All youth in the Greater Austin Area (schools, troops, individuals) in grades K-12 are invited to participate decorate a canvas bag using any art medium.
  • Entries must incorporate an environmental, conservation, or reuse theme.
  • KAB is giving away 2,000 FREE Canvas Bags for participation in the Design-a-Bag Art Contest.Claim your FREE Canvas Bags. Canvas Bags available on a first request basis. Each teacher/group is limited to 25 bags per request.
  • Postmark Deadline: March 24, 2008.
  • Three winners will be chosen from each of the categories. Winning artwork will be exhibited at City Hall.
  • The grand prize winners’ from each category will also receive art supply prizes.
  • All requirements and everything your student(s), child, or troop need to participate in the Art Contest are found in the Entry Form and Guidelines.
