KAB Sessions at the Get Growing Keep Going Conference  Green GardeningDiscover how native plants make for easy gardens and the important role native plants play in filtering pollutants. Join us to find out how naturally occurring plants improve soil health, protect groundwater and diversify habitats. Models will demonstrate surface runoff versus infiltration and hands-on activities will emphasize building a native garden bed and the roles of natives.  The Dirt on SoilYou may be surprised to know that soil is not a necessity of plants but it does help plants meet basic needs by giving them a place to anchor their roots and take in water and minerals. Join us to discover explore the science of soil, make soil observations, and learn how to build your garden from the ground up with the right soil structure and composition.

Downtown Austin Farmers’ Market – Zero Waste InitiativeEvery Saturday and Wednesday Like landfills? If that’s a big no, come be a part of a momentous zero-waste project at two fun-filled Austin Farmers’ Market (AFM) locations. Help assist customers with recycling, compost, and landfill material and help the market achieve its zero-waste goal! Date and Time:  Six volunteers needed every Saturday at the downtown AFM (3 volunteers 9am-11am and 3 from 11am-1pm) and 4 volunteers needed every Wednesday at the Triangle AFM (2 volunteers from 3pm-5pm and 2 more from 5pm-7pm).Location: Downtown Austin Farmers’ Market 4th & Guadalupe (78701) and the Triangle Austin Farmers Market 45th and Lamar (78798)  Contact Rebecca Saltsman below for detailsContact: Rebecca Saltsman email: debi@sustainablefoodcenter.ccsend.com.   Let Rebecca know which shift you'd like and how many times a month you can participate.
