Mary Moore Searight Park Off-Leash Nature Trail Project9/4/10Austin Parks Foundation has provided a grant for ecological restoration in the north end of Mary Moore Searight Park.  This project will include tree installation, and seeding of native grasses and wildflowers in the open areas.  Many decaying ash junipers have already been removed and mulched by a forestry mower.  Volunteers will be needed to transplant seedlings of tree species from the adjacent forest that are not available from local nurseries.  A very exciting addition to the project will be the installation of a solar powered irrigation system to get the new trees established.  Date:  Saturday, September 4, 2010Time:  9am-12pmLocation: 907 Slaughter Ln., 78748. Enter the trail from 1st street, just south of Slaughter Lane, on the right side of the street, where the trees begin.  You can Google the location using 10000 South 1st Street, Austin, TX 78748.  It should show a spot on the Northeast side of Mary Moore Searight Park.Contact: Please RSVP to Claire Sorenson, csorenson1@austin.rr.com or on the Facebook site listed below http://sites.google.com/site/slaughtercreektrails/HomeBecome a member, sign up for events, even RSVP at our Facebook site: http://www.facebook.com/groups.php?ref=sb#/group.php?gid=176873979247

Mary Moore Searight Park Off-Leash Nature Trail Project10/2/10Austin Parks Foundation has provided a grant for ecological restoration in the north end of Mary Moore Searight Park. Date:  Saturday, October 2, 2010Time:  9am-12pmLocation: 907 Slaughter Ln., 78748.
