NBG 2007 South River City CitizensSouth River City Citizens 2007 Neighborhood Beautification Grant Recipient The South River City Citizens have worked with several partners over the past two years to remove invasive plants, particularly ligustrum and nandina, from Big/Little Stacy Park and Blunn Creek Preserve. Remaining invasive plants are very large and will be removed by American Youthworks. The Neighborhood Beautification Grant will be used to rent a chipper to turn the removed invasive trees into mulch which will then be used in the park, and to buy inland sea oats seed (a native riparian grass) which will re-seed the area. Click here to learn about native and adapted plants that flourish in Austin gardens and are great alternatives to invasives. |
