Red Bud Isle Sand Bagging
02/09/2008

Friends of Red Bud Isle are having a workday this Saturday the 9th from 9am – 1pm to fill and stack sandbags in preparation for the shoreline erosion and dog water access improvement project to be done later this month by Environmental Corps.  They would like to do this work now rather than as originally anticipated later this month because we can take advantage of the lowered water levels.  LCRA is scheduled to refill the lake to normal levels starting this weekend, but it will take a few days to rise to the work area.  Work will entail filling large sand bags and stacking them along the shoreline.   You do not have to be a hulk to participate, as filling sand bags is part of the work, which requires little more than basic shovel talent.

Date: February 9th

Time: 9am-1pm

Location: Red Bud Isle Park, 3401 Red Bud Trail, Austin Tx

Parking:  Parking lot at entrance

Contact:  Bern Abplanalp at berna@austin.rr.com to volunteer.

Note: Bring work gloves and sturdy shoes.  We will be working on the far end of the park at a water access point.  Follow either nature trail to the end of the island and look for the people playing with sand.
