Lady Bird Lake attracts thousands of visitors daily. In an effort to keep the lake healthy for aquatic life, birds, and lake visitors, Keep Austin Beautiful founded the Lady Bird Lake Cleanup initiative. Founded in 2005, it helps keep trash off the popular downtown Austin lake through programs such as large-scale cleanups, one-time cleanups and the adopt-a-creek program. In 2010, more than 7,000 Keep Austin Beautiful volunteers cleaned up nearly 4,000 bags of trash along 250 miles of waterways.

KAB can’t do it alone and looks for both volunteers and sponsors to assist with the program.

Samsung Austin Semiconductor did just that , by stepping up to the plate and announcing a $25,000 sponsorship to Keep Austin Beautiful’s Lady Bird Lake Cleanup program. Samsung’s contribution is the first corporate sponsorship for the six-year program as well as the largest sponsorship, to date.
