Pecan Street Festival

05/02/2009 -05/03/2009

Please help divert TONS of waste at the Pecan Street Festival and help organizers reach their goal to make it the GREENEST street festival in town!  The Pecan Street Festival can seriously cut down on the impact from the festival, AND educate the 200-300,000 participants who come out to enjoy the festival.  This is the largest effort of its kind; all typical items will be recycled--and composting is being offered as well!

Date:  Saturday & Sunday May 2nd and 3rd

Time:  10:00am – 10:00pm

Location:  Downtown (78701) along 6th St between I-35 and Congress Ave.  Environmental Volunteer Check In at 7th and Neches
Parking:  free in metered spots; under the I-35 overpass between 6th and 8th Streets; paid garage and lot parking.

Contact:  Debbie, "EnviroGrrl" at staff@oldpecanstreetfestival.com  --  Please email Debbie your preferred time for helping Saturday and/or Sunday, in 3 hour increments, from 10am-1pm; 1-4pm; 4-7pm; or 7-10pm.  If you can't work during those specific times, can't commit to a full 3 hours or would like to do more than 3 hours (they'd certainly welcome it!), alert organizers and they'll arrange accordingly.

Note: Dress/pack for weather: hats, sunscreen, personal water bottle or Camelback for hands-free helping; we will provide t-shirts or a patch to pin onto yours to designate you as a volunteer.  Feel free to dress (and act!) animated to help engage participants in the efforts. Let's make this FUN!

As a thank you, organizers will provide food and drink tickets and you'll be eligible for a raffle for free Esther's Follies tickets!
