Turkey Creek Workday

08/24/09

Project Leaders Needed!  Do you have experience leading small groups in the outdoors? Then your help is needed bright and early on a Monday morning. What a way to start the week! You don't need any real technical expertise, just common sense and to be comfortable leading a group of 15 - 20. Some of the work is fairly light.

Students will be working on the following tasks:

  • Build a 50 ft long rock berm out of small stones to be delivered to the site.  Just a stacked stone wall, no concrete involved here.
  • Spread decomposed granite along a path that leads from the field to the trailhead and clean up, spread mulch at the Picnic area and move decomposed granite or gravel by the wheel barrow load.
  • Dig post holes (2-3) and mix small amounts of concrete to secure posts for additional trash T and mutt mitt stations.
  • Painting existing Trash T's at location.
  • Move and spread Mulch in Picnic area:  removal of light underbrush.

Dates:  August 24th

Time:  7:00am-9:30am

Meeting Spot: Turkey Creek located at 1600 City Park Rd. 78730.  Meet in the parking area of the Turkey Creek Nature Trail
