Bull Creek Greenbelt Work Day 2/13/2010 A stand of an exotic giant cane, Arundo donax, was heavily damaged by high water last year. Unfortunately, it survived! Indeed, there are two stands that are fairly large and two small ones. Naturalists, experienced with cane and it's removal, advised treatment, the first step of which is to cut it down and remove above-ground material. The downed material will be cut and broken into smaller pieces then spread along a portion of the trail (shown in the map) to improve travel conditions. As a special treat, expect to have one or more of the naturalists join in. Date: Sat. Feb. 13th Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm Location: Bull Creek Greenbelt Park, Austin, Texas 78759. Please meet at the paved parking lot on Old Spicewood Springs Rd. Contact: Please RSVP by Thursday, 2/11, if you plan to attend. George Innis |
