KAB Tools in Action

This winter while some sought shelter from the cold and wet others bundled-up and grabbed a shovel from KAB's Tool Shack to overhaul Martin Middle School’s gardens.

On Friday, December 18th Texas Hospital Association staff took a break from the day to day routine and got into the spirit of giving by spending the morning weeding garden beds and setting up a compost system at Martin Middle School.

Volunteer efforts continued into the New Year in connection with Hands on Central Texas' MLK day of service. American Youth Works' participants made signage for the compost station, weeded garden beds and the greenhouse, and dug out and prepared an herb garden bed.

Thanks to these fabulous volunteers Martin Middle School garden beds look picturesque!

Youth from KAB’s Green Teens after-school environmental club at Martin are researching plants to install in the newly prepared garden beds and have started a wildflower garden along the fence border with the soil that was dug out of the old beds. We are looking forward to a full harvest and weed free native garden beds this spring thanks to the help of these hard working volunteers.
