KAB Distributes $10,000 Worth of Trees

To celebrate Earth Day 2008, Keep Austin Beautiful (KAB) gave away 336 native trees to beautify public spaces and promote planting natives.

The trees were donated to more than a dozen different neighborhood and community groups and schools.  These groups are KAB partners that work to improve their adopted public spaces throughout the year.

The trees were distributed on Saturday, April 19th from 11am-1pm and will be planted during workdays over the next couple weeks.  The donated trees will soon have new homes in greenbelts, pocket parks, medians and other public spaces to help grow and diversify the urban forest.

This project is made possible by an in-kind donation of trees from Austin Energy and with support from the Austin Parks Department’s Biodiversity Greenhouse, Capital Area Master Naturalists, and American Youthworks Environmental Corps
