the Austin community toward greater environmental stewardship

UT Project 2011 

On Saturday, February 26th 1,500 UT students signed up to give their time to serve the Rundberg neighborhood in North Austin. Projects included landscaping, cleanups, painting, and hosting a community fair.  Click here to see photos of the hard work!

UT Projects
 
  • Pocket Park, 201 Wonsley Dr – picked up trash, removed vines from fence, cleared brush
  • Dobie Middle School, 1200 East Rundberg Lane – revived 3 flower beds, installed irrigation system, maintained orchard
  • Lanier High School, 1201 Payton Gin Road - painted exterior doors, benches, tables, and courtyard walls; planted flower beds; mulched flower beds and around trees; powerwashed courtyard stone
  • Barrington Elementary School, 400 Cooper Drive – replaced planters; created an entrance pathway; repaired a fence; powerwashed; tidied a patio by removing dead plants, planting natives, and mulching
  • Gus Garcia Recreation Center, 1201 E. Rundberg Lane – planted 200 native trees, installed a crushed granite pathway, cleaned a creek
  • Quail Creek Park, 1103 Mearns Meadow Boulevard – painted exercise equipment and hand rails, picked up trash, mulched trees, re-graveled pathway, repaired sand volleyball court
  • Walnut Creek Elementary School, 401 West Braker Lane – painted offices, teacher’s lounge, and bus benches; tidied flower beds by removing old vegetation, adding compost and mulch, and planting native plants; created raised vegetable beds
  • Walnut Creek Park, 1101 Walnut Creek Park Rd – mulched trees; scraped, primed, & painted BBQ grills, powerwashed shelters and basketball courts
  • Brownie Drive – picked up trash and painted bridge
  • 3 Homes – home maintenance and energy efficient upgrades
